Deputy Head of Legal

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the legal department, managing legal tasks and overseeing a team of legal professionals;
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to the executive team and business units on a wide range of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, EMI licensing, crypto-business authorisations, corporate and tax structuring, and other legal matters relevant to the fintech industry;
  • Review and negotiate complex agreements, ensuring that they are legally sound and protect the company's interests;
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex tax matters;
  • Collaborate with legal and cross-functional teams to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of legal services;
  • Manage and optimise legal operations, including legal project management, technology, knowledge management, and vendor management;
  • Develop and implement legal process improvements and standardisation, including documentation of processes, playbooks, and templates to drive efficiency and consistency in legal operations;
  • Provide hands-on control of legal services providers to ensure effective delivery of legal services;
  • Assist with legal spending management and budget tracking;
  • Stay up-to-date on legal developments that may impact the company's operations and advise on necessary changes;
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
  • Master's degree or higher from a reputable law school (admission to the bar is a plus);
  • At least 5+ years of experience practising law, with a focus on legal operations and day-to-day management of legal tasks, preferably within the fintech, e-commerce or IT industry;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in corporate and international tax structuring, support of M&A deals and other legal matters relevant to the fintech industry;
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in EMI licensing and crypto-business authorisations;
  • Experience managing and mentoring legal professionals;
  • Experience with vendor management and outside counsel management;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines;
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
